About the Outing: A Note from Susan

Bill Fleck Memorial Golf Outing 2013

Each year over 210,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor - that’s over 575 people every day.

Because brain tumors are located at the control center for thought, emotion, and movement, their effects on an individual’s physical, mental and cognitive abilities can be devastating.

Research is critical to support the vast needs of the brain tumor community, but remains under funded.

Each year, since 1998, The Race for Hope - DC has been supporting brain tumor research. The Race is one of Washington, DC’s most successful volunteer events, raising over $17 million in 15 years, and it is one of the country’s largest fundraisers for the brain tumor community. The Race is organized by volunteers and benefits two not-for-profit organizations, National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure.

The race has become a yearly event for my children and me to participate since I lost my husband, and their father, to brain cancer three years ago. The race gives us the opportunity to remember him while helping others.

I am now asking for your help as well. In memory of my husband, Bill Fleck, we are hosting a golf outing/dinner to raise money that will go to the Race for Hope. In addition to the outing and dinner, we are also going to be doing a Chinese Auction, etc. Any donation, money or prize that you could contribute to the outing is very much appreciated. We held our first outing in 2011 and raised over $7000 towards the fight against brain tumors and we would love to do even better this time around.

If you would like more information, please contact me. I'd be happy to get any information you'd like.

Thank you for supporting the fight against brain tumors!

Regards,

Susan L. Fleck
